A Close Election Could Open the Gates of HELL

Three forces are driving a fast-approaching political fire-storm:

1) a contested election
2) a wide-spread lynch-mob mentality, and
3) economic collapse

If this election is anything less than a landslide for Obama, if it is not decisive – in fact, if the outcome is contestable to any degree – those three forces will become chaos multipliers, each feeding the others in a rapidly escalating fire-storm.

Contested Election
False hysteria over ACORN is part of a broader Republican effort to invalidate, in advance, an election they now realize they are likely to lose. So this election is already being contested. The Republican strategy abruptly shifted the week following the first debate, when polls of the limited number of remaining independents moved sharply towards Obama. Their new goal is to make the upcoming election as contestable as possible, to widen the margin of victory that can be called “a tie”, and to delegitimize Obama.

Lynch-mob Mentality
McCain and Palin stoke the rage - and calls to violence - that we’ve witnessed at Republican rallies, by their relentless focus on the non-issue of Ayers. Let’s be clear: their charge, that Obama “sees America as imperfect enough to pal around with terrorists who would bomb their own country” flatly insinuates that Obama is an enemy to the United States - not that Obama is a poor choice for President, or wrong for America, or even that he is insufficiently patriotic, but that he is bent on doing grievous harm to our country. For those who accept McCain and Palin’s insinuations, to block Obama’s assumption of power by any means - including violence - is a patriotic duty. “Country First”, remember. McCain puts his personal anger, and his disdain for Obama, on public display. The crowds he gathers follow McCain’s example.

Economic Collapse
But McCain supporters aren’t the only angry Americans right now. Not by a long shot. Anybody who has a house, or a life-savings, has recently been robbed of half their net worth. On top of that, they’ve been bilked for a Wall Street bailout. People everywhere are pissed.

Our economy is on life-support. If we don’t know who’s going to be our President by, say, three days after the election, the patient will go into cardiac arrest. No one can say how much anger would arise at such a catastrophe. But Rightwing pundits like Rush Limbaugh are already telling us who to blame: black people.

Escalating Fire-storm
Blame black people, like those sub-prime mortgage deadbeats whom Democrats supposedly forced Fannie Mae to lend to. Blame black people who vote overwhelmingly for Obama. Blame black people, like Colin Powell, who’s endorsement of Obama was “obviously racist”. Blame black people in those southern swing states where the angry conservative whites have lots of practice at whipping up lynch mobs.

In the days after the hung-2000-election, Republican mobs descended on Florida to stop any re-count. Picture those mobs in the alarming context of 2008. How could anybody re-count the vote in the middle of a race riot?

Palin’s wistful ode to “the pro-America parts of this country” made clear her belief that those who oppose conservative values and conservative power are, by definition, anti-American. Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, Savage, and all the other rock-stars of the Right, repeatedly make the same equation: Liberal = Traitor. So it’s not only Obama that’s an enemy. If you’re not a Republican, then YOU are an enemy. So expect the right-wing lynch mobs to treat you, and your vote, accordingly.

And of course, the Left will rise to the bait. As in 2000, and 2004, there will be loads of dirty Republican tricks on Election Day: caging, non-existent voting machines, extremely long lines for Democrats only, and electronic election theft on a massive scale. We won’t sit by while Republican mobs take control of the State Houses and County Seats where our votes are stored and counted. We’ll rise up to defend the integrity of elections, and to defend our President-elect.

In so doing, we will give George Bush the justification he needs to declare Martial Law. He has the sole authority to do so. He has recently stationed battle-hardened troops inside the US for this purpose. And - as a war criminal - he has every incentive. Indeed, if there were mass riots in multiple US cities during a contested election and an economic catastrophe, Bush would be be irresponsible if he did NOT to declare Martial Law. And, given that situation, the military, and law enforcement would back him up.

McCain’s Personal Responsibility
Losing to a handsome rookie is proving hard on the famously ill-tempered and hard-fighting old man McCain. Obama's race seems to make it harder still. So the recent uptick in “enthusiasm” (otherwise known as rage) at McCain rallies must be intoxicating to him. But McCain seems to have no concept of the conflagration that he is courting. He’s playing with fire, in a parched field of tall grass, on a hot day.

A firestorm, once set in motion, feeds itself. It generates its own fanning winds at hurricane force. A firestorm cannot be put out until it has consumed everything burnable within reach.

For the sake of our precious - if never-quite-perfect - freedom, let's make this election a landslide.

Typical denial of anything about BO's background. He has publicly stated most of the things he is "accused" of saying. Ayers, Wright, taxes...spin, spin, spin.

This has to be the most biased peice I have read in a while. BLAME BLAME BLAME. And let us not forget to throw race in there when nothing else works. This is total crap media. I don't support Obama or McCain and I agree with a lot of the things you said. The predictions are right on the money but the blame on one side is rediculous. Get your head out of the sand and break free from this whole Left vs. Right paradigm. This is how they keep us fooled into thinking we have freedom. By giving us 2 choices. HA really make a stand and bring CHANGE by voting on real patriotic Americans with solutions. Check out the candidates from other parties and stop thinking you are educated because you watch and read the "news". It is about to hit the fan like they have planned for years so they can take total control and it won't be about Republican and Democrats because you will be standing side by side in the detention centers. RISE UP AMERICANS and let's take our republic back.

That's one hell of a worst-case-scenario you've put together. I don't think things are going to play out this way... I think Obama is either going to lose or win narrowly, and has a very real chance of getting assassinated. Knowing the typical Democratic voter turnout, I'm not really expecting a "landslide" or anything near that scale. I hate the racists and Republican fanatics that are really the bane of this country, but you can't really DO something about it. Republicans are passionate about their politics, and Democrats are just kinda lazy. Lazy people out there, vote Obama. For Weed.

The party is over! No more Empire building, no more fancy cars, Chev's will be advertised as 'durable, economical, lower purchase priced' - not 'bigger, faster, fancier'! no more McMansions, back to the buses, commuter trains and their bar cars, walking is no longer a sport, fancy coffees replaced with thermos bottles full of Folgers, plain, no more fast foods, instead, healthy nutritious meals cooked at home from cheaper ingredients, and eat your left-overs, clothes to be washed until thread bare, not piled in corners, replaced by latest styles, no fancy vacations, just time off to do house-hold chores, Moms will work longer hours, we will help more around the house, smaller, cheaply heatable lightable, furnishable, acquirable homes will replace fanciful magazine dream homes, cars may disappear completely, or evolve into plastic and battery plug in practicalities, a way to get to and from train and bus stations, investments will be made away from the spectacular crooks and towards the practical home as solar cells and windmills offer direct "no middle man thievery"gains, small plots of gardenable land will spring up where luxurious lawns once were, folks in the high rises will emigrate to a kinder, less restrictive and cheaper environment, employers will deceneralize to get cheaper country - folk labor, little will be made in America, we have lost it to Asia, but we who remain here will survive and develop a new and very different lifestyle based on what we have learned by this. The corrupt money system bringing these woes to us will no longer exist, we simply will not have the stomach to trust or support it. The worm has turned. Wake up America, Last Call! Last Call!

I was hoping that I could sift through some of the bullshit posted and find a diamond in the rough, but it didn't happen.

I support neither candidate for the record. Neither of them have any sort of redeeming factor worth voting for in the up coming election.

You should get your facts straight about the Community Reinvestment Act. Yes, it was there to stop redlining. Was that the only product? No. Obviously not. While it accomplished its goal, the side-effects were worse than the illness. This was not the only cause, but it was a contributing factor.

Many of the loans were not taken out directly through Fannie Mae or Freddy Mac. A good portion of them were sold to the mortgage giants.

Besides, redlining or not, who is the government to dictate business operations for banks that were not doing anything illegal? Redlining may be bad practice, but the market will take care of that over time.

You're just as bad as the asshats that claim we're headed toward another "Great Depression." Hype this, hype that, the economy will flatline if we don't get the election results within three days so the republicans are gonna drag it out, etc? A little paranoid? Put your tinfoil hat back on and think before you type.

This is the worst political article I have EVER read... I can't believe what I'm hearing here. I don't pretend to know much about the coming election: yes, it matters, and is important for the economy and so forth; but this is pure shit! Why is it that, instead of going out and trying to fix things yourself, you have to bash Republicans? I don't claim an affiliation myself, but good lord I'm hearing a lot of BS from both sides. Bicker bicker bicker. Jesus, people, it's like the whole country is filled with hateful, lazy morons! This article is the kind of filth that perpetuates the ridiculous and hateful BS that pours out of blogs and the media (both right and left) these days, and I, for one, am SO sick of hearing it. A note to the author:

Do your own research;
calm down a bit;
realize that these are still people we're talking about here!;
if you want to educate for your cause, this isn't the right way to go about it;

STOP watching the damn News: it, like your "well-thought-out" article here, is completely biased and mostly based on lies. STOP bashing on people based on the party the 'belong' to: it is a waste of time and perpetuates the stereotypical views that are so prominent in this country.

If you don't like my opinion STOP WRITING!!!
